Overview
This fellowship scheme provides support for post-registration clinicians up to and including specialist registrar grade, who wish to undertake a period of full-time training in a cancer relevant research field, leading to the presentation of a PhD. The present call is restricted to projects of high scientific merit on pancreatic, colorectal, leukaemia and head and neck cancers. Project details are available at www.liverpoolcancercentre.org.uk
Eligible trainee clinicians will therefore need to have a clinical training background involving one of the following speciality areas: medical oncology, pathology, ophthalmic surgery, head and neck or ENT surgery, pharmacology or haematology. You will be able to choose from one of the advertised projects most relevant to your future career. You will join a large group of existing Clinical Research Fellows and basic science PhD students affiliated to the Liverpool Cancer Research UK (CR-UK) Centre.
Responsibility for existing and new databases and working within all appropriate regulatory frameworks. You will be expected and supported to acquire training in Good Clinical Practice that governs all clinical studies and trials as well as Good Clinical Laboratory Practice required for the storage, processing and analysis of samples from and for clinical studies and trials. Honorary clinical training contracts will be sought in the appropriate speciality for each Fellow to assist in the conduct of their clinical research duties. There will be opportunities to maintain some clinical practice during the PhD programme depending on the needs of the individual trainee.
£30,992 - £39,300 pa plus home/EU fees
