Overview
The research group on Computer Engineering and Systems Optimization (http://www.tik.ee.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) has an opening for a post-doctoral fellow in the field of biologically inspired optimization, in particular for multi-objective problems.
Description
The research group deals with concepts, methods, and tools for large-scale optimization in the context of systems design and analysis. Hereby, we focus on randomized search algorithms, in particular biologically inspired techniques, and multi-objective optimization from three different angles: (i) theoretical foundations, (ii) algorithm design and implementation, and (iii) applied decision support in engineering design.
Position
The Computer Engineering and Networks Laboratory offers a creative international environment, a possibility to conduct highly competitive research on a global scale and involvement in teaching. The responsibilities of the position include successful research in multi-objective optimization in terms of theoretical foundations, algorithm design and applications. In addition, active participation in research projects and leading a small group of highly motivated Ph.D. students is expected.
Education
The candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree with top performance in a field that is closely related multi-objective optimization using biologically inspired methods such as evolutionary optimization. He should have a track record in conducting original highly competitive scientific research and publishing the results in top conferences and scientific journals. Maturity, self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as a team player in local and international research teams are expected. German language skills are not required, English is mandatory.
Application
Applications can be sent via either email or letter:
Prof. Dr. Lothar Thiele
