Overview
The School of Veterinary Medicine and Science are seeking two dynamic, enthusiastic veterinary surgeons dedicated to the future of dairy production medicine, to undertake three year residency programmes.
Duty and responsibility
The successful candidates will join a rapidly expanding team of eight specialist research led clinicians who hold six RCVS diplomas in Cattle Health and Production, three European diplomas in Bovine Health Management, two American Board Diplomas (one dairy and one large animal internal medicine) and five PhD's. The core remits of the group are to develop and advance clinical excellence, undertake world class research and transfer knowledge to the industry to promote outstanding health and welfare in dairy cattle.
Residents will be based at the Veterinary School and will undertake clinical work at our associate farm animal practices. The residency programme will comprise a combination of farm animal practice, specialist training, clinical research and informal undergraduate teaching, and will lead to a Masters degree in Veterinary Medicine (MVM). Additionally, the residency programme could lead in whole or in part to an RCVS Certificate, an RCVS Diploma in Cattle Health and Production, or the European Diploma in Bovine Health Management.
Eligible Candidate
Candidates must be Members of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, or hold a veterinary degree qualifying them for membership.
Value of this program
These posts will receive a tax free stipend of £19,000 per annum, plus a foundation scholarship of £3,000 per annum.
The start date is February 2010 or as soon as possible thereafter.
