If you have problems with the download, please, contact daad@netvision.net.il for assistance.

- Letter of acceptance written by a German professor, who has approved of your research project and is ready to serve as your Ph.D. advisor. This letter should contain his academic evaluation of the planned Ph.D. research as well as state the reasons why he wants you to come to Germany for your Ph.D. work. Please, ask your professor in Germany to send his letter directly to the DAAD IC in Jerusalem.
- At least two letters of reference from your academic teachers at the
Master’s level. Only original letters in a sealed envelope can be accepted. New recommendation forms!
- Photocopy of your passport.
On extra sheet: name, e-mail address, telephone number, fax number and mobile phone number - keep us up-dated of any changes!

All applications must be submitted in triplicate (that means 3 separate packages including all of the required papers in proper order: 1 original set, 2 photocopied sets). All letters of recommendation must be submitted in a sealed envelope – do ask for extra copies from the person writing the recommendation. Do not staple the photocopied documents together and do not staple your photograph to the forms (use glue to attach your photograph in the place indicated on the form, write your name clearly in English on the back of all additional loose photographs). Please, organize your papers according to our above checklist.

Applications that are not organized and not signed (i.e. application form as well as your C.V and your Research Project) cannot be accepted.

Candidates invited for an interview should come to the interview with three additional packages complete with all papers - simple photocopies- plus two additional sealed letters of recommendation. (So please, do keep copies of your application with you and ask for enough letters of recommendation in sealed envelopes.).

There are two ways to get accepted as a Ph.D. candidate in Germany. The traditional way is to find an individual professor at any of the German universities ready to accept you as his/her student. A very attractive alternative is to get accepted into one of the new Ph.D. programs, some of which are taught in English. Have a look at the attached information sheet or find the latest up-date on our website www.daad.de under “International Degree Programs”.
