Overview
The Bayer Young Environment Envoy is a worldwide environmental educational program for young people. The program is organised by Bayer and the United Nations Environment Programme with the aim of encouraging young people to become environmental leaders and increase their awareness for the environment.
Eligible candidates
To be eligible applicants must :
- Be a Kenyan citizen, between the ages of 18 & 24.
- Be actively involved in environmental activities/ community service.
- Provide two references.
- Be willing to travel overseas and work well in a group.
- Be proficient in the English language.
NB
Children & relatives of UNEP / Bayer employees are not eligible for entry.
How to Enter
We would like you to come up with a visual project proposal aimed at addressing sustainable development and enhancing conservation prospects of the earth’s natural resources within a specific community (not necessarily your own).
Please note that the proposal should not be limited to scientific & technological advancements or solutions: i.e. how will it benefit the community’s inhabitants financially, politically, socially etc?
E-mail a written summary of your environmental project proposal in NO more than 100 words to children.youth@unep.org
Selection Process
All applications must reach UNEP / Bayer no later than 30 June 2010.
Interviews and proposal presentations will take place from 6th to 10th July 2010.
Based on an interview, the judges will determine their environment knowledge, communication and people skills.
The applicants will be shortlisted and assessed on their answers, leadership and environmental knowledge.
The top two Bayer Young Environmental Envoys will be announced on September 2010.
The selected envoys will join delegates from18 other countries on a weeklong, all expenses paid trip to Leverkusen Germany from 7th to 12th November 2010 where they will participate in the Bayer Young Environmental Envoy field trip. The trip will provide them with an opportunity to network with their fellow youth leaders and bserve environmental practices in industry and everyday life in one of the most technologically advanced nations, Germany.
