Overview
This fellowship was created to support Bangladeshi students with financial need in obtaining an MBA at Stanford.
- Grameen Fellows will receive full financial support for the two-year Stanford MBA Program and all fees associated with applying and attending.
- Grameen and Stanford are dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders in Bangladesh who are committed to the country’s human and socio-economic progress.
- Within two years of completing their Stanford MBA studies, Grameen Fellows will return to Bangladesh for a period of at least two years employment in the public or private sector.
Process and Evaluation Criteria
There is a two-stage application process. In the first stage, prospective fellowship applicants complete the Grameen Fellows application.
Up to 20 Grameen Fellows Finalists will be selected based on:
- Merit
- Commitment to developing Bangladesh
- Financial need
In the second stage, those Grameen Fellows finalists will go on to complete the standard application process for the Stanford MBA Program. As part of the MBA admission process, Grameen Fellows finalists will be required to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) if they have not done so already and the TOEFL/IELTS if applicable. If finalists have previously taken the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) General Test, and still have a valid score, they may submit the GRE score in lieu of the GMAT. The Grameen Fellows finalists will bear none of the costs associated with the GMAT or TOEFL/IELTS exams or Stanford application.
Stanford may select up to two Grameen Fellows from among the finalists based on its primary admission criteria of:
- Intellectual vitality
- Demonstrated leadership potential
- Personal qualities and contributions
Timing for Fall 2011 Admission
15 April 2010 to1 June 2010 (by 5:00 PM Pacific Time): Grameen Fellows application available online
1 July 2010(by 5:00 PM Pacific Time): Grameen Fellows finalists notified
1 July 2010 to 6 October 2010: Grameen Fellows finalists prepare for and take GMAT exam
1 July 2010 to 6 October 2010: Grameen Fellows finalists prepare and submit Stanford MBA application
December 2010: Stanford MBA Program notifies Grameen Fellows
September 2011: Stanford MBA students matriculate

- Educational history and scores (SSC and HSC exams scores if available)
- Employment history and aspirations
- Resume/curriculum vitae (C.V.)
- 250-word essay question
- Individual financial information
