Overview
The Faculty of Humanities announces 5 PhD fellowships within Media, Technology, and Social Interaction. The positions are available from September 1st, 2010.
New communication technologies have revolutionized communicative, and thereby social, practices. Our engagements with others and the networks these engagements sustain, both at work and in everyday life, have changed radically. There is thus a strong need for research that brings technical innovations into a dialog with sociologically and ethnographically oriented communication research.
A new PhD program (Media, Technology and Social Interaction) at the Faculty of Humanities aims at educating researchers with strong cross-disciplinary competencies who wish to understand the social and communicative contingencies of technological innovations.
Project applications may fall under the following headlines:
• mediated communication and the communicative affordances of technologies,
• technology and media as work tools, for entertainment, education and research,
• interaction design
• media integration and convergence,
• social and cognitive aspects of media use.
Each fellowships will be allocated to one of the faculty’s five institutes and may be placed on one of the faculty’s 5 campus locations. The choice of a specific institute and campus will depend on the topic of the successful application.
All five fellowships are mobility fellowship and part of the activities of the graduate research program “Media, Technology, and Social Interaction” financed by the Danish Research Agency. Applicants with a Master’s degree from the University of Southern Denmark cannot apply for mobility fellowships.
