Soillse Research Fellow: Gaelic Policy and Development

Eligible candidates
In connection with the inter-university Soillse initiative, to inform public policy concerning Gaelic in Scotland and maintain and revitalize Gaelic language and culture, you should have, or be near to completing a PhD. You will have detailed knowledge and awareness of the situation of Gaelic in Scotland and the current policy context along with a good understanding of the socio-linguistic issues relating to minority languages more generally. The ability to speak, read and write Gaelic is required. Those who do not currently have all these skills will be expected to develop competence in Gaelic such that they can conduct and present academic research through the medium of Gaelic. Appropriate language training will be provided. The post is available from 1 September 2010 on a full-time basis, and for a fixed term of four years.
