Applications are invited for a Professional Doctorate (ProfD) in the Centre for Digital Entertainment (CDE), a collaboration between the University of Bath and Bournemouth University, with Wonky Films.
This 4 year studentship, fully funded by the EPSRC, offers the opportunity to conduct research in an industrial context.
Project
We are interested in creating a dynamic animation series that can be efficiently personalised and targeted at an individual/segmented audience level across different media. Research could involve the development of a test series that is adapted/optimised over time as data is collated relating to a number of 360-related areas.

Based in Bristol, Wonky Films http://www.wonkyfilms.com/ are a studio specialising in illustration and high-end animation for broadcast, advertising and digital. Wonky combine creativity and technology to develop innovative animated content for commercials, virals, mobile, GPS experiences and online games.
CDE
The Centre for Digital Entertainment (CDE) is a new collaboration between the University of Bath, Bournemouth University and a host of industry partners across the computer animation, games and visual effects industries. The CDE has been awarded £6.3 Million initial funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
The CDE will focus on providing research-level skills as well as technical and management expertise to people heading into the specialist industries of computer animation, games, visual effects, visualisation and simulation.

Studentship
The program lasts 4 years. 75% of your time will be based in a company engaged on research projects. You will be supported by access to options from a suite of Master's programs from both universities. The taught program will be negotiated by you, your academic supervisors and the host company so it can be tailored to your particular research needs. Successful applicants will receive their tuition fees, a tax free stipend of at least £14,790 and dedicated funding for equipment and conference travel.

Criteria
Graduates with a First or Upper Second Degree in a related area.
Strong technical ability and programming skills are a necessity.
Understanding of visual arts, multimedia technologies and social networking desirable.
