Overview
An early career fellowship position is available for a period of three years in the Department of Chemistry, University of Oxford, on a project entitled ICONIC, Imaging and Control in Chemistry.
We are seeking a chemist or physicist to work on applications of velocity-mapped and spatially-mapped ion imaging in the fields of reaction dynamics, photodissociation dynamics, and mass spectrometry. Applicants should have a keen interest in both instrument development and applications in a wide range of areas.
The successful candidate will be registered for PhD training whilst employed by the University on a Marie Curie Initial Training Network and will be expected to conduct complex experiments and scientific analysis, and to contribute to the development of new techniques and reporting of results.
Requirements
Candidates must possess a good degree in a relevant subject, and previous experience in a relevant field of research will be an advantage. Persons who have obtained a doctorate or had more than 4 years full time research experience are ineligible.
Amount Awarded
The EU funding for these positions provides a basic salary/living allowance based on a euro amount of €25,000 - €30,000 per annum, (depending on employer deductions, which will vary according to exchange rate). This includes an annual mobility allowance to cover the expenses associated with working in a different country, and a travel and career exploratory allowance.
Eligible Candidates
Under the terms of the EC funding, which aims to promote mobility within the research community, to be eligible for the post you must not have been resident in the UK for more than 12 months in the past three years. The post will be based at the Department of Chemistry, University of Oxford, Chemistry Research Laboratory, Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA.
