Overview
The Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC) is a research institute of the University of Amsterdam, in which researchers from the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Humanities collaborate. Its central research area is the study of fundamental principles of encoding, transmission and comprehension of information. Research at ILLC is interdisciplinary, and aims at bringing together insights from various disciplines concerned with information and information processing, such as logic, mathematics, computer science, linguistics, cognitive science, artificial intelligence and philosophy.
ILLC invites applications for 3 PhD fellowships, tenable from September 1, 2011, for a period of up to 4 years. These fellowships are in part funded by the Humanities Incentives Board in collaboration with the Humanities Division of the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research.
Eligible Candidates
Applicants must hold a Master degree in a relevant field before the start date of the fellowship. Applications should include a description of the proposed research project, a full academic CV, and an official transcript of all Master level courses and grades..
Previous contact with ILLC or its members is not necessary and international researchers are encouraged to apply as well. ILLC will match successful applicants with an appropriate and qualified supervisor. Please do not specify a potential supervisor in your application.
