Japan and Netherlands: Research Opportunities under the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS)

Overview

NWO has a cooperation agreement with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), which provides various opportunities for doing research in Japan.

Who can apply

Dutch researchers with a PhD degree.

What can be applied for

Subsidy to cover travel and accommodation expenses and the costs of health insurance. In case of a jointly organised seminar applications can be submitted for a contribution towards the costs.

When can be applied

Applications can be submitted continuously. Decisions on an application take four to six months.

Extra Information

Grants can be applied for in the following cases:

1.Scientist exchange - Short term (2 weeks to 2 months) in Japan
2.Scientist exchange - Long term (6 to 12 months) in Japan
3.Contribution to the cost of Bilateral Joint Seminars in Japan or Netherlands
4.Invitation fellowship Short term (2 weeks to 2 months) in Japan
5.Postdoctoral fellowships for Foreign Researchers (12 to 24 months) to a Japanese research institute


Selection Criteria

Important selection criteria are:

- scientific quality, originality and relevance;
- quality of the research team;
- feasibility;
- urgency.
