Overview
The Yeshiva University Center for Jewish Law and Contemporary Civilization at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law (CJL) is pleased to accept applications for its Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Jewish Law for the academic year 2010-2011. Post-Doctoral Fellows in Jewish Law will join a community of students and scholars who are interested in studying Jewish texts in light of Western legal theory. Candidates need not have had prior exposure to the study of Western legal theory.
Eligibility Candidates
Interested candidates should have completed a Ph.D. in Jewish studies, Jewish law, or a cognate field of religious studies, but ABD candidates are encouraged to apply. Applications must include the following: a letter of interest stating the candidate's specialty area, dissertation topic and/or recent research projects, and theoretical interests; curriculum vitae; and one letter of recommendation
Value of this fellowship
One fellowship of $20,000 will be awarded for the 2010-2011 academic year.
Application Deadline
The deadline for applications is Monday, March 2, 2010, and successful candidates will be notified by Monday, March 30, 2010. Applications should be submitted electronically to jewishlaw@yu.edu with the letter of recommendation sent directly by the recommender.
The Post-Doctoral Fellow in Jewish Law is expected to be in full-time residence during the academic year. The Fellow will participate in monthly meetings of the CJL Scholars' Works-in-Progress Series, the Legal Theory Reading Group, and the 1st Year Graduate Fellows Seminar at the Cardozo School of Law in New York City.
