Overview
BU is the fourth most improved university in the UK for the quality of its research and achieved a high global research profile following the announcement of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise results. The RAE 2008 ranking means that BU is now in the top ten for research amongst the 60 new universities. As part of our continued investment into our research profile, we are offering 25 fully-funded studentships commencing in October 2010.
The maintenance grant payable to students taking up a Studentship in the 2010-11 academic year will be £13,800 per annum for the 36 month duration of the award.
The first call for applications includes the following project:
Research into novel concept of flexible tooling for large scale mass production of composite marine components
This is a joint project between the Design Simulation Research Centre (DSRC) at Bournemouth University (BU) and BAE Systems Surface Ships funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
The project involves research and validation of a novel concept of flexible tooling for use in large scale, mass production of composite components/structures. Due to the sensitive nature of the research project further details cannot be provided.
