Overview
The Sasakawa Young Leaders Foundation Fellowship (SYLFF) is designed to provide full financial support to outstanding Ph.D. students admitted to candidacy with a research concentration in international affairs and/or world peace. The SYLFF fellowship is merit-based and competitive fellowship offered upon recommendation by the SYLFF Advisory Committee at Howard University.
Eligibility
Candidates must be advanced to Ph.D. candidacy with research and career interest in international affairs and/or world peace. Students must be enrolled full-time with a minimum GPA of 3.5
Terms
Full tuition and fees and a stipend of $15,000 for one academic year, renewable for no more than two years. The fellowship also includes a research award of up to $2,000 over the two- year period ($500 of the research award may be used for educational supplies, and $1,500 for dissertation research related travel expenses).

- Statement addressing the candidate’s research and career interests in international affairs and/or world peace (up to 3 pages)
- 3 letters of recommendation from faculty members at Howard in the candidate's research area
Department Chair must endorse the application and submit the application packet to the SYLFF office, Room 103, Graduate School, Annex III, by Friday, February 19, 2010.
