Italy: EMCL: European Masters Program in Computational Logic

Overview

The Faculty of Computer Science at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (FUB), in Italy (at the heart of the Dolomites mountains in South Tyrol), is offering the European Masters Program in Computational Logic as part of its Master of Science in Computer Science offer (Laurea Magistrale). The European Masters Program in Computational Logic is an international distributed Master of Science course, in cooperation with the computer science departments in the following universities:

Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy
Technische Universität Dresden, Germany
Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal
Technische Universität Wien, Austria

Within this program, completely in English, students will spend the first semester of the first year at the Technische Universität Dresden (TUD), the second semester of the first year at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (FUB), and the second year in one of the 4 partner universities chosen by the student. It is possible to spend 3 months at the National ICT Australia (NICTA) Research Centre of Excellence, which gives the possibility to work on a project at one of the world's leading research centers. After this, the student will obtain a joint European Master of Science degree.

The course consists of basic and advanced modules, a Project, and a Master theses, for a total of 120 ECTS credits. The basic modules are offered by the Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) and by the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (FUB). The advanced modules for the first and the second year of the degree, the project, and the thesis, are offered by each of the 4 partner university, and they reflect the teaching and research specialisation of each site.

The European Masters Program in Computational Logic is one of the few European Masters of Science awarded since its first year of existence in 2004 by the European Union's Erasmus Mundus programme. The Erasmus Mundus programme is a co-operation and mobility programme in the field of higher education which promotes the European Union as a centre of excellence in learning around the world by supporting European top-quality Masters Courses.

Application deadline for academic year 2010/2011: 15 May 2010.

Scholarships
