Overview
The University of Liverpool's School of Engineering is looking to recruit 11 new PhD students to join in October 2010 funded by the EPSRC, industry and the University. The Faculty offers financial support to talented prospective PhD students wishing to pursue postgraduate research study in an exciting and challenging environment.
The School of Engineering is housed in recently refurbished buildings and laboratories, with internationally recognised research being undertaken across Aerospace, Civil, Lasers, Manufacturing, Materials and Mechanical Engineering with new cross-disciplinary themes being strongly cultivated. There are many industrial links and collaborations. Research students study in a supportive learning environment and have access to state of the art computational and experimental facilities.
Studentships are available in the following areas, all of which are particular strengths in the School: Aerospace, CFD, Fluids, Materials, Lasers, Structures, Solid Mechanics and Tidal Energy. Amount Awarded
Funding is available covering tuition fees and living costs for UK students. Awards will be made at the standard EPSRC stipend of £13,290 pa tax-free.
Eligible Candidates
Students will need to hold or expect to gain a 1st class degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline (with evidence of first class performance in key subject areas.)
