Overview

Lund University School of Economics and Management is one of eight faculties within Lund University. More than 4000 students and 300 researchers, teachers and other staff are engaged here in training and research in economic history, business administration, business law, informatics, economics, statistics and research policy.

Lund University announces a position as Professor in Economics. The position is for full time permanent employment and is placed at the Department of Economics, Lund University School of Economics and Management.

Subject area
The holder of the position should be competent and experienced within the field of economics.

Eligibility and duties
Both scholarly and pedagogical proficiency are requirements for employment.

The position consists of own research, teaching and supervision of bachelor, master and PhD theses, as well as some administrative work.


Applicants who do not have Swedish as their mother tongue are expected to be able to teach in Swedish within a period of two years.

Professors are expected to actively apply for external research funding.

The following assessment criteria will be applied:
- a high degree of scholarly proficiency
- a high degree of pedagogical proficiency
- a good national and international level as a researcher
- a good ability to supervise doctoral students until they take their doctoral degree
- a good ability to develop, lead and carry out teaching and research of high quality
- a good ability as an academic leader and other personal ability that is of significance for good performance of the duties
- a good ability to interact with the surrounding society and to inform about research and development

Scholarly and pedagogical skills are of foremost importance in the assessment of the applicants. Special weight will be given to scholarly skills.

Student oriented methodology is presumed to be used in teaching. We therefore attach great importance to the applicant’s pedagogical merits and pedagogical skills. The assessment of all applicants’ scholarly, pedagogical and other skills, and of their potential to carry out these tasks, will be based on documented achievements both inside and outside the university environment.

The applicants’ ability to use their skills and experience to strengthen and supplement existing research and teaching activities within the Department and the School of Economics and Management will also be considered.

Applications must include:
1. Cover sheet and motivation
2. Curriculum vitae with appendices
3. Account of scholarly work
4. Account of pedagogical work
5. Account of future research plans
6. List of publications
7. Copies of up to ten selected publications

All material shall be submitted in four copies. One copy of the application, including enclosures, shall be left unstapled and on a single-sided print-out, to facilitate copying.

All documents pertaining to the application should be sent in one comprehensive package. The ten selected publications should be sorted and packaged in four separate identical bundles that can be sent to the external experts without further handling.

The application shall be addressed to the Vice-Chancellor at Lund University and should be sent to the Registry office, Lund University, PO Box 117, S-22100 Lund, Sweden. Applications must be received by 2 June 2010 at the latest. The reference number must be quoted in the cover sheet of the application.
