Overview
The School of Creative Arts at The University of Hertfordshire invites applications for an AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Award. The collaborative award has been made between the University of Hertfordshire and the National Trust property, Shaw's Corner.
The research project, entitled 'George Bernard Shaw: Artefacts and the Construction of Identity at Shaw's Corner, Hertfordshire', will focus on historical contextualisation and interpretation of aspects of the artefacts held in the collection, in relation to Shaw's life and work.
The student may chose either to focus on elements of the art works, which include paintings, sculptures and prints, or on the design objects, which include textiles, furniture, clothing and appliances.
Amount awarded
The award pays tuition fees and a maintenance grant each year (total c£13,290) for a maximum of three years of full-time or five years of part-time doctoral study (subject to evidence of satisfactory progress) and is available to UK/EU students first registering to undertake a research degree in September 2010.
Please note that the maintenance element of the funding is only available to UK residents.
