Overview
Australian Postgraduate Awards are available to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens or permanent residents of Australia for candidates undertaking a full-time Master's by research degree or PhD degree.
It is normal for recipients to undertake study on a full-time basis, although, subject to strict criteria laid down by the Department of Employment, Education and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). The award may be offered for part-time study.
These awards provide a living allowance, a relocation allowance and a thesis allowance.
Applications can be submitted at anytime throughout the year.
Stipend:
AU$22,500 (2010 rate) per annum tax free for full-time students, paid in fortnightly installments.
AU$12,176 (2010 rate) per annum, taxable, for part-time students, paid in fortnightly installments.
Maximum Duration:
Three years full-time for a PhD degree, two years for a Master's research degree.
