Overview
A postdoctoral position in medicinal chemistry and organic synthesis is available immediately at the Department of Physics and Chemistry, University of Southern Denmark. The position is for one year, with the possibility of extension for a second year.
The relevant project involves design and synthesis of receptor ligands and development of new synthetic methods related to this. The Free Fatty Acid receptor 1 (FFA1/GPR40), which is implicated in regulation of insulin secretion and a potential new target for treatment of diabetes, will be central in the project.
The successful candidate should have a PhD in organic or medicinal chemistry or a closely related field, thorough documented experience within organic synthesis, high motivation and excellent communication skills. An interest for molecular biology is an advantage. Some experience with molecular modelling would also be an advantage, but not a requirement.
