Overview
This Fellowship program is open only to UAE nationals. Admitted fellows are placed at one of the Masdar research partner institutions abroad to earn their PhD degrees. These partners include:
•Imperial College London, (UK)
•RWTH Aachen University (Germany)
•German Aerospace Center-DLR (Germany)
•Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan)
•University of Waterloo (Canada)
•University of Texas, Austin (USA)
•University of Freiburg (Germany)
Upon graduation, each scholar will be given the opportunity to work at the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology or with one of Masdar’s partners or ventures in a research program. Current research tracks include: solar energy (photovoltaic and thermal); water technologies; carbon capture and storage; biofuels; energy storage; and energy efficiency.

Applicants must fulfill the following conditions:
•Be UAE citizens
•Hold a Masters degree in engineering or science with a GPA of 3.2 or above
•Possess strong analytical skills
•Be creative and innovative
•Have good communication skills
•Possess an ability to envision and help shape the future
The Fellowships will be competitively awarded according to academic excellence, independent intellectual contribution and commitment to purpose. Each Fellowship will cover educational and living expenses, in additional to a pre-set salary, foreign living allowance, tuition fees, text books, travel expenses, children’s education and life and health insurance.
