PhD Scholarships for EU Citizens, Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS)

Overview

Call for Applications for admission to PhD Programmes - Reserved to Citizens of European Union Nations - Faculty of Arts - academic year 2011 – 2012

1. Positions available and fields

The Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) is accepting applications for 30 PhD positions for the 2011-12 academic year in the Faculty of Arts in the following fields:

Classical Languages, Linguistics and History
Modern Languages and Linguistics
Philosophy
History (from Medieval to Contemporary)
Art History

Selection will be based on candidates’ work to date, their proposed study/research project and an interview.

2. Admission requirements

The following are application requisites:

  1. citizenship from one of the nations of the European Union (EU) or from another European nation where one of the following is an official language: French, English, Italian, Spanish, German
  2. MA or equivalent completed within 21 October 2011
  3. to be under 30 years of age
  4. knowledge of at least one of the following: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish
  5. to have applied no more than once before for a PhD at the SNS
  6. not to have been the object of any of the sanctions or legal judgments indicated in Attachment B - Application Form



3. Application deadline and process

Application for admission to the selection must be made in Italian completing in full the form provided inAttachment B. The application must arrive at the SNS by Monday 1 August 2011, signed by the candidate, and accompanied by all required information and attachments listed on the Further Information pages.

Late arrival of the application and/or attachments, no matter what the cause, even if posted by the deadline, will result in non-admission to the competition.

Refer to the Further Information pages for all other important details, including information concerning required information and attachments, the organization and timing of the interviews and student responsibilities and rights.

The complete application materials may be delivered by hand or mailed to: Scuola Normale Superiore, Servizio Segreteria Allievi, piazza dei Cavalieri 7, 56126 Pisa, ITALY, or sent by email to the address:concorso.ammissione@sns.it , exclusively in .pdf format.
