For Haiti: Fulbright Scholarship Program 2011-2012 in the United States

Overview

The Office of Public Diplomacy of the Embassy of the United States is pleased to announce its annual open competition for the 2010-2011 academic year Fulbright Scholarship Program. This international education exchange program was established by the United States Government with the objective of fostering mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other nations. Applicants must meet all eligibility criteria in order to be interviewed by a selection committee for comparison to other eligible applicants.

Fulbright Post-Graduate Program

Objective: To Foster academic exchanges between Haiti and the United States.
Overview: Leads to a graduate-level degree (master’s) from an American university.
Priority fields of study: Preference is given to applicants who wish to pursue graduate studies in education, law, public administration/policy, public health (including specialized fields such as HIV/AIDS prevention/treatment), political science (including specialized fields such as conflict resolution or human rights), management, economics, urban planning, and American studies.

Eligible Candidates

- Applicants must be Haitian citizens with a bachelor’s degree based on an exemplary academic record;
- Applicants should have at least two (2) years of work experience;
- Applicants must show an ongoing commitment to community / public service; and
- Applicants must have advanced English language skills (verbal and written). Minimum score of 550 on TOEFL;
- Applicants must present a well-developed application
- [Applicants with extensive or recent experience in the U.S. will not be considered, nor will Haitians with dual U.S. citizenship, legal permanent residence in the U.S. (green card status) or legal permanent residence in Canada.]


Interview Criteria:

- All applicants who meet the minimum education requirement (a Bachelor degree (four-year university )) will be required to take an English test to verify their level of fluency ;
- Only Applicants who meet ALL the eligibility requirements above will be considered for an interview;

Application Process

Applicants should complete the online application available at:

- All applicants are required to submit one copy of the following documents:

1. Letters of reference (minimum one);
2. Signature form of the application;
3. Transcripts; 4. Diplomas;
5. Proof of English proficiency (if available);
6. DO NOT SUBMIT A COPY OF THE APPLICATION FORM.

Please note that only copies of these documents must be sent to the Office as no documents will be returned to applicant. The Office declines responsibility for any original documents. Deadline to apply and submit documents to the Office of Public Diplomacy is June 30th , 2010. Documents may be in French; if chosen, you’ll be required to have them translated into English.
