Overview
You are invited to apply for a PhD position to investigate innovative government approaches to the development and/or redevelopment of sustainable business locations. The PhD research is part of a joint research project of Utrecht University and Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen and fits in a new research programme called Climate Proof Cities (part of the Knowledge for Climate Programme).
As a PhD researcher you will be part of a joint research team led by Prof. T. Spit (Utrecht University) and Dr. E. Van der Krabben (Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen). The position will be available in the Nijmegen School of Management at Radboud University Nijmegen (Netherlands). You may, however, work part-time in Utrecht as well.

Requirements
You are required to have a relevant Master’s degree in Spatial Planning or a related discipline. You are expected to have a strong interest in sustainability issues and location development and redevelopment processes. An excellent command of written and spoken Dutch is mandatory (since Dutch cities will participate in the project). Publications, however, will be mainly in English.
Organization
This position is located within the Governance and Places research group, which is one of three research groups within the Institute for Management Research of the Nijmegen School of Management. Additionally, there will be strong links with the spatial planning research group of Utrecht University.

Conditions of employment
Employment: 1,0 fte
Maximum salary per month, based on a fulltime employment: € 2,612 gross/month
The starting salary is €2,042 per month and will increase to €2,612 per month in the fourth year.
Duration of the contract: 4 years.
Additional conditions of employment
You will be appointed conditionally as a PhD researcher (1.0 FTE) for a period of 18 months. Your performance will be evaluated after 12 months. If the evaluation is positive, the contract will be extended for the remainder of the period.
