Overview
As part of its continuing investment in research, The University of Liverpool Management School will recruit one full-time UK/EU doctoral student to commence studies in October 2010.
The studentship will pay the equivalent to full-time UK/EU tuition fees plus an annual maintenance allowance (£13,570 for the first year) until completion of the award or 3 years, whichever is earlier.
The University of Liverpool Management School welcomes applications from candidates who have:
• A good honours degree (minimum 2.1 or equivalent), preferably in a relevant subject to the doctoral project specialism
• An MRes or other recognised postgraduate research qualification or experience demonstrably equivalent to this. Research at ULMS covers disciplines of:
Accounting & Finance, Economics, Organisational Behaviour, Operations Management, Strategic Management and Policy-Making and Marketing.
Specific themes of interest include:
enterprise, manufacturing and technological innovation, supply-chains, corporate governance, services marketing, business history.

Method of application
1.Check the research interests of academic staff at ULMS to ensure that we can offer expert supervision in your chosen area of specialisation
2.Prepare a brief research proposal (up to 2000 words) outlining the research you would like to undertake
3.Make contact with the relevant academic staff member and confirm that they are interested in your chosen research topic prior to making a full application
4.Applicants must complete all sections of the University Postgraduate Research Application Form, inserting ‘ULMS Doctoral Studentship Application' in the Funding section and as the first line of your Personal Statement: www.liv.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/applying/
Alongside the completed application form, applicants should submit the following supporting documents:
• Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• Personal statement identifying the particular skills, experience and personal qualities you would bring to this research
• Research proposal explaining your ideas for this research and your thoughts on the distinct challenges and opportunities it might bring
• Two reference letters
• School or college transcripts/certificates
• University transcripts
• Degree certificates
