Overview
The University of Luxembourg has the following vacancy in the Computational Biology Research Unit of the LCSB
Postdoc or Ph.D. student (Molecular and Systems Biology approach to protein allostery)
Fixed-term contract 2 years, 40h/week, may be extended up to 5 years.
• Employee status (start date: as soon as possible)
• Area: Structural Bioinformatics
Tasks/Mission:
This project aims at combining the study of protein allostery from molecular and systems perspectives. The main goal is to get a better understanding of the role of protein structure and dynamics in the allosteric mechanism. The relationship between allosteric perturbations and the appearance of particular diseases shall be studied. In particular, we are interested in the characterization of the allosteric control of transcription factors within the context of gene regulatory networks. The project will involve close collaboration with other units at the LCSB, as well as with other experimental and computational groups outside Luxembourg.
Profile:
• A PhD or Master in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biology or a related discipline
• Strong programming skills and experience with the use of protein databases and statistical inference are expected
• High interest in researchers with previous experience in the application of computational techniques to the analysis of the role of dynamics in protein functions
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Excellent working knowledge in English. As the University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context, French and/or German would be a definite advantage.
Offer:
• Opportunity to participate in the development of a newly created LCSB
• An exciting international environment
• A competitive salary
