Spanish Government Scholarships for International Students

Overview

With the announcement each year of MAEC-AECI Scholarships for summer and academic year following the conference, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MAEC) through the Spanish Agency for International Development ( AECI) and the Directorate of Cultural and Scientific Relations, presented an offer of training excellence for studies in Spain and abroad.

MAEC-AECI Scholarships are held every year, on a unilateral basis and open to all countries. There are scholarships available to foreign citizens to pursue Masters and Doctoral level degrees in Spain during the summer or during the academic year.

Scholarship programs offered are an important instrument of Spanish cooperation policy with countries receiving official development assistance and also an essential element for cultural and scientific relations between Spain and the rest of the world.


Master's Scholarship Program

Scholarships for foreign master's degree (official title proper), expertise, expert, and research in Spanish universities and affiliated institutions, research organizations, Spanish, and other non-university schools.

The aim of these grants, is both to improve the professional conditions how to prepare applicants to continue his research. With these grants may be eligible:

Duration:

Specific requirements:

A university degree, preferably three years at the time of entering the study center destination, with guaranteed perspective for further teaching or research career in universities or institutions of their country of origin upon return.
Having pre-admission of the Destination Center.

Equipment:

- For studies in the municipality of Madrid and an academic year, 600 per month, plus board and lodging in one of two residence halls Foundation Halls MAEC-AECI (CM CM Africa and Guadeloupe), valued at 965 € monthly charge of the AECI.
- For studies outside the municipality of Madrid, or in case of exhaustion of the previous mode, 1,200 euros monthly.
- Tuition Assistance: up to 2,000 euros for individual assistance, if required studies for granting the scholarship.

PhD Scholarship Program

Scholarships for foreigners to doctoral studies (by the plan as old as the European Higher Education Area) and research in Spanish universities and their affiliated institutions, as well as other research and higher learning Spanish.

Deadline for submission:

From the day following publication in the Official Gazette until January 26.

Duration:

Up to 1 year from October 2011.
Extended to 4 th year, in the case of study for doctoral studies in Spain, and in the extended.

Research grants not associated with official postgraduate studies in Spain can only be extended up to year 2.

In the event that the beneficiary has commenced a PhD prior to the awarding of the grant, the total length of it, as indicated, will be reduced in equal proportion to the time it takes to do doctoral studies before granting. Those applicants who were granted scholarships by the AECI for their studies Master's or equivalent degree, with options for PhD, will cut the total period of their scholarship in a year.

Specific requirements:

Master's and PhD Scholarship Program in Spanish

"Institutional Scholarship" to study master's and Ph.D. in Spanish universities and their affiliated institutions and public research institutions in Spanish.

Deadline for submission:

From 17 January to 17 March

Duration:

Up to 1 year from October 2011.
Extended a 2 nd year Master and up to 4 th year, in the case of study for doctoral studies in Spain, and in the extended.

Specific requirements:

For the partner institutions, it is a public university or public research organization of one of the countries participating in the Inter-University Cooperation Program (ICP) of the AECI also part of the Group A of the Master Plan for Spanish Cooperation 2009 - 12 (Algeria, Bolivia, Cape Verde, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Honduras, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Senegal).

Be nominated as a member of the Project presented by the University of the Country of Origin or Applicant and confirmed or accepted by the University, Public Research and Studies Centre for Higher Education Spanish where studies are conducted, and attached to a research group and Fellow responsible guardian.

To the members nominated in the Project, have employment as a teacher and / or investigator of the Applicant Institution.
Possess a university degree required to develop the studies requested.

Equipment:

- Individual monthly stipend for each student: 1,200 euros.
Tuition Assistance: Up to 2,000 euros to support individual or up to 500 euros for academic supervision. These grants will be awarded if the studies required for granting the scholarship.

- Travel Assistance: The amount will be associated with the country of the requesting institution. In addition to the Travel Assistance provided in the Eighth Base, will be awarded a second grant in the same conditions, for travel from Spain to the country of the applicant institution, if required studies and academic and professional obligations of the grantee, after an authorization by the Department of University and Scientific Cooperation.
