Overview
The Alpha Bank Visiting Fellowship on the Political Economy of South East Europe provides financial assistance, donated by Alpha Bank, Greece, for academics with an expertise on the political economy and European integration of the post-communist countries of the region.
The applicants should hold a PhD in the related fields of economics, political science, political economy, international relations, and should have research experience in developments in the Balkan region. The purpose of the fellowship is to enable the Visiting Fellow to undertake academic research on the political economy of South East Europe at SEESOX, St Antony’s College, Oxford. We seek a candidate who can carry out such research in one of the following indicative areas:
-ƒ Post-communist political, economic and social developments;
-ƒ Foreign direct investment in the region;
-ƒ Reform and European integration;
-ƒ Development in transport, energy, migration;
-ƒ Regional cooperation and regional initiatives.
The fellowship is awarded for three terms from October 2011 until June 2012. It carries an expenses allowance of £21,500, plus other College benefits. Taxation in the UK and elsewhere depends on the individual circumstances of the candidate.
Visiting Fellows will become associates of SEESOX, members of the academic community of the European Studies Centre, and Senior Members of St Antony’s College, and will be entitled to the use of the College library, research centres, and social facilities. They will be offered full participation in College life as well as that of the University of Oxford. Candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, including the names, addresses and telephone numbers of two referees, and an outline of their proposed research to reach us not later than Monday 7 March 2011.
