PhD Fellowship in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Overview

PhD Fellowship in Biomolecular Sciences and Mass Spectrometry, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark

PhD fellowship: The role of post-translational protein modifications in epigenetic regulation

The PhD fellow will join our efforts to elucidate the mechanisms of protein regulation by detailed analysis of transient post-translational modifications by mass spectrometry. Specifically, we aim to gain a detailed understanding of the role of co-existing post-translational modifications in proteins. The PhD fellow will develop quantitative mass spectrometry based techniques to study histone proteins and other types of chromatin binding proteins and their post-translational modifications in the context of stem cell and cancer cell biology.

The fellowship is part of the activities of the Centre for Epigenetics financed by the Danish National Research Foundation.

The qualified applicant holds a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry and/or Molecular Biology and has a strong background in protein biochemistry and/or cell biology, and documented experience in analytical biochemistry, mass spectrometry and bioinformatics. The PhD fellow will interact with collaborators at other institutions and is expected to be able to communicate fluently in spoken and written English.

Place of work: Protein Research Group (Professor Ole N. Jensen), Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark, Odense, Denmark. The Protein Research Group offers a strong, international and competitive research environment within the fields of biochemistry, biomolecular mass spectrometry, and proteomics.

For further details please contact Professor Ole Nørregaard Jensen, PhD, jenseno@bmb.sdu.dk.
