Overview
We seek a PhD student to explore the control of oxygen concentration on microbial metabolism utilizing newly developed high-sensitivity oxygen sensor technology. The study will explore the lower limits of oxygen metabolism by aerobes, the upper limit for anaerobes and the control of oxygen on microbial metabolism in natural environments including oxygen-minimum zones and OMZ-like settings.
This project is part of a new ERC Advanced Grant initiative “Oxygen” and ongoing activities at the Nordic Center for Earth Evolution (NordCEE) at the University of Southern Denmark. The expected start date is 1 September, 2011.
Application, salary, etc.:
Appointment as a PhD Research Fellow is for three years. Employment stops automatically at the end of the period. The holder of the scholarship is not allowed to have other paid employment during the three-year period.
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement of 1 October 2008 on salaried PhD scholars between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
The successful candidate will be enrolled at this university in accordance with faculty regulations and the Danish Ministerial Order on the PhD Programme at the Universities (PhD order).
