Overview
Sarah Lawrence College Mental Health serves a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students ranging in age from 17 to older adult. Our clients present with a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, eating disorders, self-injury, personality disorders, gender identity issues, psychotic disorders, and adjustment issues. Our clinicians operate from a variety of theoretical perspectives, utilizing a brief treatment model. Sarah Lawrence College Mental Health staff comprises licensed clinical social workers, psychologists, and psychiatrists. All clinical staff members are involved in our fellowship training process.
Our Fellowship Training
Program includes:
• Direct clinical experience with our undergraduate and graduate population
• 1 hour per week of individual supervision with licensed clinical psychologists
• 1 hour per week of group supervision with a licensed psychologist
• 2 hours per week of clinical staff team meetings
• 4 hours per month of clinical case conferences and staff development seminars
• 1 hour per week of mental health programming and campus outreach
• 1 hour per week of clinical training conducted by staff LCSWs, psychiatrists, and psychologists
• Opportunities to collaborate with Sarah Lawrence College dean of students; faculty; resident advisers; and the Office of Student Life
• Additional hours as needed for process recordings, chart notes, and student projects
Our direct clinical experience involves:
• Comprehensive evaluations
• Brief psychotherapy treatment cases
• Year-long clinical case opportunities
• Consults with our staff psychiatrist
• Weekly walk-in hours
• Crisis intervention opportunities
• Referrals to community clinicians
• Opportunities to co-facilitate the following
ongoing psychotherapy groups:
Substance Abuse Recovery
Managing Body Image Issues
Coping with Grief and Loss
Managing Anxiety Issues
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Process-oriented Therapy
The actual number of weekly direct service
hours assigned to each fellow is contingent
upon his or her individual academic program
requirements
The deadline to apply for the 2011 Counseling Center Post-Doctoral Fellowship is February 15, 2011.
