The Food Allergy Research Initiative and the Center for Chronic Disorders of Aging at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine are seeking an applicant for a postdoctoral fellowship position to study severe/life-threatening peanut allergy in a mouse model and cell culture system that investigates immune-modulation strategies designed to decrease the severity of allergic responses in a mouse model of severe peanut allergy. Candidates will be required to analyze data, as well as collect and prepare results for publication and presentation at relevant scientific conference(s), and assist in the pursuit of project funding. Ph.D. in life sciences with experience related to immunology and allergy, experience working with laboratory mice (handling and experimental manipulation, euthanization of specimen, and tissue collection), sterile tissue culture technique, establishment and maintenance of antigen-specific T-cell lines, protein/antibody quantification and analysis (ELISA) is required. Previous postdoctoral experience is not required for candidates with relevant pre-doctoral research experience. The ability to work well with senior researchers as well as students with varying degrees of experience and expertise (undergraduate through graduate level) is required. This is a two year grant funded position scheduled to begin July 1, 2011.
