Overview
Since 2002, the AmCham Charitable Foundation US Studies Scholarship has been awarded annually to outstanding secondary school students in Hong Kong to pursue undergraduate degree studies in the US. The Scholarship provides a one-time grant of HK$16,000.
Eligibility
The scholarship is available to permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) who:
• have received at least five years of continuous schooling at a secondary school in Hong Kong
• are currently enrolled as a full-time secondary school student in Hong Kong
• have been accepted for undergraduate study at an accredited US higher education institution
What is the AmCham Charitable Foundation?
The American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (AmCham) Charitable Foundation was established in 1985 and is governed by a Board of Trustees composed of the past chairmen of AmCham who are resident in Hong Kong. The Foundation's overall aims and objectives are to raise funds and contribute to educational, training and other charitable projects that will promote its charitable objectives and at the same time have a long-reaching and therefore beneficial effect on the recipients.
In recent years, the Foundation has placed increasing emphasis on educational projects in Hong Kong in order to demonstrate its long-term commitment to the Hong Kong community. The AmCham Charitable Foundation is a registered charitable organization and as such enjoys tax-exempt status. All contributions to the Foundation are tax-deductible. The Board of Trustees is empowered to invest the Foundation's trust fund and utilizes only the accrued interest of the fund to support Foundation programs.
