Exeter Graduate Fellowship at University of Exeter

Overview

The Mood Disorders Centre, in Psychology (Streatham Campus, Exeter) at the College of Life and Environmental Sciences, University of Exeter, will host two Exeter Graduate Fellow (EGF) studentships starting in October 2011 and four EGF studentships starting in October 2012. The studentships will cover UK/EU tuition fees, a stipend payment and payment for 180 hours of work (teaching-related activities) each year, plus generous support for research expenses – in total £20,000 per year, for three years of full-time study.

These will be suitable for applicants with an interest in clinical psychology, psychological therapies, clinical research, health services research or the NHS. Possible topics range from basic research (eg, attentional biases underlying worry and rumination), to psychological therapies research (eg, understanding how therapies work) to health services research (eg, making therapies accessible via Internet-based modalities). Some projects may be attached to existing programmes of research. The Mood Disorders Centre faculty all offer PhD training, which involves undertaking a programmatic series of research studies, regular supervision and participation in the Centre's regular scholarly and management meetings. Please contact the faculty member you would like to work with to develop a research proposal together. The successful applicants will register for an MPhil/PhD and also be expected to undertake 180 hours of teaching-related duties per year (including leading small group tutorials, demonstrating, running the statistical helpdesk, and marking).
