Faculty of Health Sciences Salary - £27,319 - £33,600 per annum
The Cancer, Palliative and End of Life Care Research Group in the Faculty of Health Sciences is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated researcher with previous experience of qualitative research to contribute to two projects. The first, 'Understanding the unknown – cancer of unknown primary ' research project is funded by Dimbleby Cancer Care Research Fund and findings will inform the care and support for this under-served group. The second project (consisting 20% of the post) will explore the need for support in family members of people having chemotherapy. It is funded by Macmillan Cancer Support in collaboration with King’s College London.
The role will involve recruiting, conducting and analysing in-depth interviews and focus groups with people with cancer, their relatives and health professionals involved in their care. It also involves writing reports and publications from the study.
You will have a PhD in a health or social science subject or relevant experience, expertise in qualitative research, and experience of research in health care settings. Experience of conducting sensitive interviews, knowledge of case study methodology and experience of cancer care is desirable.
The appointment is full-time for one year. A satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau disclosure at Enhanced level is required for this post.
