Central European University (CEU) www.ceu.hu announces calls for MA and PhD scholarship and fellowship applications for the 2010/2011 academic year.
CEU is an English-language, US-accredited graduate university in Budapest, Hungary, specializing in the social sciences and humanities. Funding is available for one- and two-year MA and three-year PhD programs in the following departments: Economics, Gender Studies, History, International Relations and European Studies, Legal Studies, Medieval Studies, Mathematics, Nationalism Studies, Public Policy, Philosophy, and Sociology and Social Anthropology.
Merit-based scholarships and financial aid Successful applicants are eligible for a range of merit-based scholarship and financial aid packages, including full and partial support for tuition, full medical coverage and living costs. 67% of all Master's students in the Academic Year 2008/2009 received a full or partial scholarship (includes free tuition, monthly stipend, full medical coverage and free accommodation at the residence center/ dorm). Another 11% of all Master's students received a full or partial tuition waiver in 2008/2009. The CEU Doctoral Fellowship supports 95% of all full- time PhD studies for up to three years, covering tuition and health insurance, and includes a monthly stipend of approximately 700 EUR. In addition, CEU administers a number of externally funded financial aid programs, including the Erasmus Mundus scholarships from the European Commission, federal loans for US citizens, as well as other private and public funding options. More than 8,500 graduates make up CEUTMs growing alumni network. They include ambassadors, EU parliamentarians, and UN officers, Members of parliaments, international affairs experts, economists, policy makers, academics, international law scholars and human rights officers. Nine out of 10 CEU graduates are employed within two months after graduation.
Application deadlines:
January 25, 2010: For applicants who wish/are required to take the CEU-administered admissions examinations and/or are requesting exemption from the English language proficiency requirement.
March 16, 2010: For applicants submitting applications complete with language scores and other applicable test scores.
April 16, 2010: For applicants to the doctoral programs of Political Science, International Relations and European Studies, and Public Policy, submitting applications complete with language scores and other applicable test scores.
