Overview
VLIR-UOS (University Development Cooperation) has announced two new calls for scholarships: master credit allowances and PhD Plus scholarships. Candidates must have the nationality of one of the countries mentioned on the DGDC list of developing countries. Applications are to be submitted by March 18.
A master credits allowance is an allowance for students from the South (DGDC country list) that are following an English-taught master programme in Flanders and wish to follow (part of) a course module of their currently ongoing master programme or conduct scientific activities in connection with their currently ongoing master programme i.e. in the framework of officially attributed study credits (ECTS) for at least one and no more than three months from January to December 2010 at a university in the South (DGDC country list – a country other than the own country of origin).
The purpose of the master credit allowance is to bring about South-South links. Given the role of VLIR-UOS projects and programmes, institutional and other links between university courses and universities in Flanders and in the South could hereby be activated or strengthened.
Eligible Candidates
A master credit allowance can only be granted to master students (with or without scholarship) holders from an English-taught master programme in a Flemish university, who:
- have the nationality of one of the countries on the DGDC list of developing countries;
- did not receive a “south-south mobility allowance” from VLIR-UOS in 2009.
- Students who are/have been abroad in 2010 before this call was launched, can submit an application file. In case they are selected financing can be obtained in retrospect.
Deadline 18 March 2010
