Overview
VLIR-UOS (University Development Cooperation) has announced two new calls for scholarships: master credit allowances and PhD Plus scholarships. Candidates must have the nationality of one of the countries mentioned on the DGDC list of developing countries. Applications are to be submitted by March 18.
Ph.D.Plus scholarships are scholarships for persons from the South (DGDC country list) that were awarded a Ph.D. as part of or after having participated in a VLIR-UOS programme or at a Flemish university and that wish to specialise at a Flemish university for up to three months in 2010.
The purpose of Ph.D.Plus scholarships is to give former scholars with a Ph.D. the opportunity to follow an intensive (refresher) course or conduct intensive scientific activities in a short period of time at a Flemish university and under the supervision of a Flemish promoter with the aim of utilising the acquired knowledge in the local context.
Eligible Candidate
Ph.D.Plus scholarships are reserved for persons who meet the following three requirements. This means that applicants should:
- have obtained a Ph.D. degree at a Flemish university or (preferably but not necessarily) in the framework of a VLIR-UOS programme;
- have obtained this Ph.D. degree at least 1 year before the start of the Ph.D. Plus scholarship;
- have the nationality of one of the countries on the DGDC list of developing countries;
- not have been granted a “south-north specialisation scholarship” from VLIR-UOS in 2009.
Deadline 18 March 2010
