Overview
Research studentship opportunities are available through EPSRC Doctoral Training Awards (DTA) for PhD study in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Glasgow, commensurate with current research activities.
Value of this studentship
These awards, normally for 3.5 years, provide a stipend at the Research Council level (£13,290 per annum in 2009/10) and tuition fees for eligible UK residents, or a tuition fee only award for EU students. Applicants should possess, or expect to be awarded, at least an upper 2nd class honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, which may include the Sciences and Technology in addition to Engineering. The stipend will be enhanced above this level for well-qualified candidates, or candidates with appropriate industrial experience.
Deadline and application requirements
Applications for a DTA scholarship for entry around Sept 2010 should be received by the appropriate department by the deadline of 29 March 2010. The application should contain the following: covering letter stating the wish to be considered for an EPSRC DTA studentship, a confirmation of residency status and the identification of a research area of interest commensurate with current research activities in the Faculty of Engineering; a current CV; a transcript of studies to date; and 2 references.
