Generous Scholarships are available for Australian students to complete a master of science degree in a range of sustainable engineering and technology fields at the Masdar Institute of Science & Technology in the United Arab Emirates.
The Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) is offering PG scholarships for outstanding graduates in engineering and science. MIST is keen to have Australian scholars included in their research teams and the scholarships provided by MIST are both generous and highly relevant The Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) is part of the MASDAR initiative to establish an entirely new economic sector in the United Arab Emirates dedicated to alternative and sustainable energy. - helping drive the economic diversification of Abu Dhabi
- maintaining and expanding Abu Dhabi's position in evolving global energy markets
- positioning Abu Dhabi as a developer of technology, and
- making a meaningful contribution towards sustainable human development.
MIST is a private, not-for-profit, independent, research-driven institute developed with the support and cooperation of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. MIST offers Masters and from 2010 PhD programs, in science and engineering disciplines, with a focus on advanced energy and sustainable technologies. MIST is establishing linkages with government and industry, both within the region and internationally, in order to apply knowledge to develop innovative technologies and in the education of a wider audience in relation to alternative and renewable energy.
MIST is located in Masdar City, a $USD20 billion carbon-neutral, zero-waste city in Abu Dhabi which will be powered solely by alternative energy.
Graduates will receive degrees from the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology as well as a certificate from MIT verifying that the degree is to MIT standards. Masdar is also a founding member of the Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute and is interested in concrete partnerships in sustainable energy technology, solar technology and joint research projects with Australian universities. MIST offers Graduate Scholarships to complete a Master of Science degree in the following areas:- Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Water and Environmental Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering Systems and Management, Electrical Power Engineering, and Microsystems.
Applicants for scholarships will need to meet MIST's high admission standards which include; an appropriate TOEFL score, GRE and an excellent CGPA from a recognized university. A minimum CGPA of 3.0 (on a 4 point scale) or 2:1 in the British system, minimum TOEFL score of 577 (91 on the IBT) or academic IELTS (min 6.5), and a minimum GRE quantitative score of 700.
The MIST scholarship includes:
- 100% tuition fee scholarship
- Textbook provision
- Laptop provision
- Medical Insurance
- Housing in a single unit apartment (at the Masdar campus)
- Reimbursement of travel expenses (economy class air-ticket) into Abu
Dhabi and back home after completion of studies. Travel expenses (return economy class air-ticket) back to the student's home country at the end of the 1st year of studies will also be reimbursed.
- Reimbursement of TOEFL and GRE exam fees (upon registration at Masdar Institute and submission of original receipts)
- A competitive stipend per month (cost of living allowance).
MIST scholarships have no bond or conditions upon graduation, however, the scholarship and benefits are subject to maintaining a minimum CGPA as determined by MIST and satisfactory progress on their research.
