Algerian Government undergraduate degree scholarships 2010/2011

Overview

The Tanzania Government has received 64 scholarships from the Algerian Government for Tanzanian nationals to undertake various undergraduate degree programmes in Algeria in the academic year 2010/2011.

The MOEVT in collaboration with Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) therefore, invites qualified applicants to apply for the scholarships through the Central Admission System (CAS). The scholarships are in 21 fields as listed below and are taught in either Arabic or French.

Eligible applicants

To be eligible for these scholarships applicants must:
(a) Not be older than 25 years by September 2010,
(b) Have at least three credit passes at ‘O’ level education,
(c) Have at least two ‘A’ level principal passes and a subsidiary pass with a total of not
less than 4.5 points where A = 5, B = 4, C= 3, D = 2, E = 1 S = 0.5 and F = 0 points.
3. Procedure for applying
Applicants who have already registered and applied to join our local universities in 2010/2011can still apply for these scholarships through either Internet or mobile phone.

Applicants applying through Internet should:

Log into the TCU website www.tcu.go.tz,
Click “student Application” icon. The TCU Central Admission System will open
Enter “Username” (which is the applicant’s ‘A’ level index number and year) then enter “Password” (which was used during the registration process) and click “login” icon,


Click “My programme” icon, Click “Click Here” to add programmes, remove programmes or change programmes, Highlight the programme to be removed (found in the box labeled “programmes you have selected”) then click the arrow pointing left (applicants should repeat this process until all the desired programmes are removed), Highlight the desired Algerian scholarship programme(found in the box labeled “find programmes below”) and click the arrow pointing right to include the respective programme in the applicants selected programmes box (applicants should repeat this process until all the desired programmes are entered in the box labeled programmes you have selected).

Applicants applying through mobile phones should:

(a) Go to the message mode,
(b) Enter the word “Change” and enter preferred programme codes (including programmes in the Algerian scholarship category) and send to 15789(applicants should enter afresh their programmes as their earlier preferences will be cancelled to allow the new entry).
4. Tanzania nationals holding foreign certificates
Tanzanian nationals holding foreign certificates who had already submitted their applications and would wish to apply for the Algerian scholarships should down load the form from the TCU website fill the form by including preferred programmes in the Algerian scholarship category and re-submit their application to TCU.

These applicants should inform TCU in writing that they had already submitted their application and would like their earlier applications to be cancelled.

Applicants yet to submit their application through CAS.

Applicants who are yet to use CAS and wish to apply for the Algerian scholarships should follow the normal procedures as elaborated in the students’ Guidebook by including programmes under the Algeria scholarships category.

Conditions for applications

Conditions for applications are as follows:
(a) Applicants should be registered through the Central Admission System,
(b) Selected programmes including Algerian scholarships should not exceed 12 programmes or be less than eight programmes,
(c) Applicants should not select more than three programmes from the scholarship
category.

Payment

No extra payment is required to apply for the scholarships if an applicant had already paid and submitted his/her application through either CAS or as a holder of foreign certificate.

Deadline

Deadline for:
(a) Application and Change of programmes so as to include Algeria scholarships for
applicants holding national and foreign certificates is 23.59 hours on 29th June 2010,
