Naughton Fellows at University of Notre Dame

Overview

During the 2011/12 academic year there will be opportunities for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) students to pursue a Masters Degree as a Naughton Fellow.

The applicable universities are Dublin City University, Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork and University College Dublin in Ireland and the University of Notre Dame in the United States.

Three graduating students from the University of Notre Dame will be supported to attend one of the Irish universities to study a select Masters Degree. Three graduating students from the Irish universities will be supported to attend the University of Notre Dame to study a select Masters Degree.

The Naughton Graduate Student Exchange Program in Science and Engineering enables students to experience international education at one of Ireland's leading universities or at the University of Notre Dame.

The program facilitates cross-cultural experience for exceptional students with leadership potential in select fields, stimulates collaborative research among the engineers and scientists who train these students, and forges deeper and stronger ties between the host institutions and countries.


Scholarship

All tuition for your degree program and a stipend will be sponsored. Stipend levels are US$20,000 for a twelve month period.

Application Criteria and Process

The awarding of a Naughton Fellowship is not only a recognition of academic and extra curricular excellence, but also an opportunity for the student to become an ambassador for themselves, for their home institution and for their country.

Applicants must be in the final year of study in an undergraduate STEM* course at an applicable university**.

Please note that official transcripts and any additional information should be emailed prior to the closing date to applications@thenaughtonfellowships.com.

Completed applications must be submitted by Tuesday 1st March 2011. Finalists will be called to an interview during the first weeks of March and the winners will be notified by Friday 1st April 2011.

If awarded a Fellowship the student would be expected to maintain strong final year grades, apply for the relevant program and also satisfy any Visa requirements***.

*Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics related subjects
** Dublin City University, Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork and University College Dublin in Ireland and the University of Notre Dame in the United States.
*** For Students from Irish Universities the requirements for the GRE test scrores will be waived.
