Overview
The National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) will accept applications for admission to Doctor of Philosophy program in Computer Science and Information Systems (International), Academic year 2011.
1. Qualifications ofApplicants
Major in Computer Science:
Students hold degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related fields from a university or institution accredited by the Commission on Higher Education. Excellent academic records and good proficiency in English are required.
Major in Information Systems:
Students hold degree in Information Technology, Information Systems Management
or related fields from a university or institution accredited by the Commission on Higher Education.
Excellent academic records and good proficiency in English are required.
Applicants who graduated from abroad must provide a letter of accreditation for the
received degrees, that is issued by Commission on Higher Education. For Thai applicants, the letter can be submitted when applying for interview examination. For international applicants, the letter can be submitted after an enrollment to be students in the program.
NIDA reserves the rights to examine all documents and qualifications of an applicant
at any time. If it is found that an applicant does not meet the required qualifications after an
acceptance has already been given, the announcement of acceptance shall be cancelled
2. Selection Procedure
The selection procedure is divided into two Types
Type 1.1 : Dissertation Only
Applicants must hold a Master's degree with excellent academic records
and research background. Considerations will be made upon the
applicants' scholastic records, experiences, and dissertation proposals.
Type 2.1 : Dissertation and Coursework
Applicants must hold a Master's degree. Considerations will be made
upon the applicants' scholastic records and experiences.
3. English Competency
Applicants must confonn to NIDA' s announcement on English proficiency
requirements as follows:
3.1 Unless applicants are native English speakers or have obtained their bachelor's
and/or master's degrees not more than five years from international academic
institutions where English was the language of instruction and study, they are
required to submit a test score of either the Test of English as a Foreign
Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System
(IELTS). The minimum TOEFL score is 550 for the paper-and-pencil test or
213 for the computer based test or 79 for the Internet based test. For the
IELTS, the minimum score is 6.5 points.
3.2 Applicants who fail to meet the English proficiency requirements in 3.1 need
to pass TOEFL/ITP (International Testing Program) at Institute of
International Education (lIE) with the minimum score of 450. The test score
must be send directly by the lIE to the School of Applied Statistics.
Applicants, who pass the minimum score required by NIDA, may be accepted
to the program. However, they must register for an English course in the first
semester of their study. Students must pass the course with the result of "S"
(Satisfactory) in one academic year. Otherwise, thcy will not be allowed to
continue their study.
4. Application Procedure
4.1 Application form can be obtained by contacting the NIDA Education Service
Division, l"t Floor, Car Park Building, Seri Thai Road, Bangkapi District,
Bangkok 10240.

4.2 Applying in Person: Application c an be made in person at Educational
Service Division be twe en 8.30 - 16.30 hrs (except government holidays).
Application fee for applying in person is 1,000 Baht.
4.3 Application c an also be made via post by submitting the application fonn
together with required documents, including application fee's original
payment slip showing the name of applicant, an enve lop wi th 3 Baht stamp
and address of the applicant. The application via post should be mailed to:

Application fee for applying via post is 1,020 Baht. The payment c an be made
by c a sh transfer through Kasikom Bank to National Institute of Development
Administration, Saving Account No. 040-2-16501- -6, Kasikom Bank, Klong Chan
Branch.
5. Required Documents
5.1 Official transcripts of all university studies
5.2 Official TOEFL or IELTS test scores
5.3 Two letters of recommendation (recommendation foml c an be downloaded
from the website http://as.nida.ac.th)
5.4 Two I - inch photos taken not more than six months prior to the application
date.

applicant should ke ep a copy of all document s sent.
6. Application Schedule
Application can be made at any time of the year. However, the application
consideration will be made twice a year during Ma r ch and August as follows:
First Semester (June 2011- September 2011)
- Last day to apply to study in the First semester March 4, 2011
Second Semester (November 2011- February 2012)
- Last day to apply to study in the second semester August 19,2011
