The College of Humanities is offering excellent funding opportunities for exceptional researchers across a range of subjects in the broad thematic area of Medical Humanities within the College of Humanities. We are offering:
Up to two AHRC Doctoral Awards (open to UK/EU students only): all tuition fees paid for three years. UK students will also receive an annual maintenance grant for three years, which we expect to be £13,590 per year.
The College of Humanities at the University of Exeter has considerable research strengths in the area of Medical Humanities. We offer a supportive and stimulating environment for postgraduate research and practice and welcome students from all around the world.
The College hosts the Centre for Medical History, which is funded by the Wellcome Trust and is dedicated to advancing methods and areas of research within the history of medicine and forging links with medical and health care professionals in the region. However, medical humanities activity is extensive across and between all the seven disciplines within the College, from English to Theology, Modern Languages to Drama, and Archaeology to Classics.
How to apply
Entry criteria
We invite applications for any of our specialisms within the College of Humanities from candidates with a strong academic background and a clear and engaging research proposal which can be developed through available research supervision. Successful applicants normally have a good first degree (at least 2.1, or international equivalent) in a relevant field of humanities, and a Masters degree at Merit level, or international equivalent, in a relevant field of humanities. If English is not your native language then you will also need to satisfy our English language entry requirements
To apply
To be considered for one of these Doctoral awards, you must complete an online web form where you must submit some personal details and upload a full CV, research proposal, transcripts, two references and, if relevant, proof of your English language proficiency, by 11 February 2011.
