Japan: Japan IDB Scholarship - Northern Hemisphere Program 2010

Overview
Scholarships for countries in Latin-America

The Inter-American Development Bank, with funding from the Government of Japan, has established a scholarship program for students from the Bank's borrowing member countries who wish to pursue Master's degree in development-related fields, such as Social Sciences, Business, Public Administration or other development-related technical disciplines

Target countries

Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chili, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, Venezuela.



Field of study

Economic Development, Social Sciences, Business, Public Administration and other development-related technical disciplines.

Level of study

Master Program

Term of Awards

- university fees

- subsistence allowance (cost of housing, food, utilities, and other reasonable living expenses)

- installation allowance

- book allowance

- travel costs



Requirements for application

Candidates must:

- be a citizen of one of the above mentioned countries

- be under the age of 40

- be in good health

- hold a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in the social sciences, business or public administration, or another development-related technical discipline

- have obtained his/her university degree with superior grades

- have at least two years of work experience in a public agency or in an organization devoted to research or teaching in the country of origin or residence

- be currently admitted in a Master's degree program in the social sciences, business or public administration, or another development-related technical discipline (except law and medicine)

- be prepared to return to his/her native country upon completion of studies and work for at least two years in order to apply enhanced knowledge and skills toward helping accelerate economic and social development

- not be an Executive Director, their alternate, staff, long-term Consultant of the Inter-American Development Bank, a blood relative up to the fourth degree, or a relative by marriage up to the second degree

- not be elected or appointed political officials during the application process and/or in the last two years of their work experience. (i.e. ambassadors, government ministers or vice-ministers, cabinet secretaries, or equivalent.)
