Overview
Abbey Bank (owned by Banco Santander) and the University of Oxford began to collaborate in 2007. Abbey now provides a number of partial scholarships for postgraduate students from the Santander Universities network. The scholarships are for Master's students who have the intention of continuing their studies at doctoral level.
Target countries
Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Other criteria
You must be intending to continue your studies at doctoral level. Preference will be given to students who have done their first degree at one of the universities in the Santander network in the countries listed above.
Program
One and two year full-time Master's degrees excluding BCL, MJur, MBA, EMBA, MFE, PGCE and any part-time Master's courses.
Major: All except BCL, MJur, MBA, EMBA, MFE and PGCE.
Duration: One year (non-renewable)
Value of scholarship: £10,000
8 scholarships will be available in 2010/11
How to apply
Apply at the same time as you apply to Oxford by selecting Santander Abbey Scholarship in the Funding Section of the University's Graduate Application Form.
Closing date: Application Deadline 2 (8 January 2010 for Medical Sciences and Philosophy students; 22 January 2010 for all other subjects)
Result: We expect to notify successful candidates at the end of May 2010. A notice will appear on the Student Funding website when decisions have been made. If you have not heard from us by the time this notice is posted, then your application to this scheme has been unsuccessful.
