Overview
Tonen International Scholarship Foundation at University of Tokyo
Qualifications (must satisfy all the following conditions):
(1) Self-supporting international students who will be enrolled in the first year of master’s or the doctoral course as of April 2010. (Research students at the time of application are eligible to apply.)
(2) 35 years of age or under as of April 2010
(3) Those with nationalities other than Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean, or Japanese.
(4) Able to communicate in Japanese in daily life.
(5) Those receiving or will receive a scholarship are not eligible to apply.
Scholarship amount per month: 140,000 Yen Scholarship grant period: From April 2010 to March 2011 (Re-application is acceptable.)
Deadline: Apply until January 27, 2010 (Wed) to the International Student Section. Applicants are expected to abide by the deadline and submit application on time.
How to apply
To apply, submit Form 3 (Application Form for Scholarships by Private Foundation) directly to the International Student Section, or send it by e-mail attachment to ryugaku@ofc.a.u-tokyo.ac.jp or fax to 03-5841-8168 (Ext.28168).
The International Student Section will send a confirmation e-mail to the applicants who applied through e-mail or fax.

Following documents need not be submitted on January 27, 2010 (Wed). Students nominated by our graduate school will receive information from the International Student Section. Only then must they submit the following:
(1) Private scholarship record (financial details)
(2) Application form (prescribed format)
(3) Two photographs
(4) Academic Record Certificate (of the present course. Those who will be enrolled should submit the certificate of the previous course- original)
(5) Recommendation letter by the supervising professor (prescribed format)
(6) Certificate of Alien Registration (original)
(7) Health certificate

• Registration System for nominations to Private Foundation Scholarship has become operational. Students who had not registered their information are not eligible to apply. The next registration will be held in April.
• Hardcopy of scholarship information will no longer be available on the rack beside the entrance of Students Center, Faculty of Agricultural Bldg.3. Students are requested to check the OICE website for information.
