Overview
ASP Packaging is a producer of flexible packaging films - primarily for the food industry. They specialise in developing novel packaging solutions for major food retailers in the bakery and fresh produce sectors. Clients include Waitrose, Tesco and ASDA.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Food/Packaging Technologist to research and develop innovative packaging, and implement introduction of new packaging products and processes into production.
Salary: £20,000 - £25,000 pa, depending on experience
Fixed term 16 months KTP appointment plus sponsored Masters
Location: Watford WD18 8UA
Eligible Candidates
You should have a first degree (minimum 2:1) in Food Science & Technology, Biochemistry or related discipline. Some experience of working in the food/produce industry is required and experience of post-harvest produce, along with knowledge of plant biochemistry, would be advantageous. You should also have knowledge of food packaging requirements, food quality issues, and new packaging developments. Ability to set up appropriate experiments, evaluate data and draw conclusions based on results and economic requirements is needed. Good computer skills are essential with experience in using spreadsheet and database packages. You must be a self-starter able to work independently on a wide variety of specific tasks meeting tight deadlines. Good interpersonal skills and self confidence are needed, with the ability to work closely and effectively with key suppliers and customers. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
This is a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) appointment in which the candidate will work full-time at the company, but will be employed by London South Bank University. The appointment is for 16 months, with a possible extension of 4 months.
All the usual benefits of KTP Associate status apply to this post: generous training package, university and company supervision, the opportunity to enrol for a fully sponsored higher degree and the potential to develop a permanent position with the company.
