The 2011 Anne & Gordon Samstag International Visual Arts Scholarships

Overview

Applications are invited for Samstag Scholarships, for study overseas in the visual arts from 2011.

The University of South Australia offers the scholarships on behalf of the Trustee of the estate of Gordon Samstag, late of Naples, Florida USA.

Amount awarded

Each 2011 scholarship is intended to cover the reasonable costs for a period of twelve months overseas, and includes a tax-exempt stipend equivalent to US$37,000 (United States dollars), plus return airfares and institutional fees for one academic year.

The following are eligible:

■ Graduates, of not more than five years standing by 30 June 2010, of a studio-based course at an Australian institution of higher education;
■ All applicants must be either Australian citizens or have permanent residency status, and be at least 18 years of age. Persons currently overseas may apply provided they are otherwise eligible in accordance with the above.

After downloading the Samstag application form, either:

1. Complete the form directly on your computer, for which you will need Adobe Reader, version 7.0.5 or later. Digitally completed forms – including Sections G and H – MUST be printed and posted to the Samstag office, along with your support material (ie, not forwarded by email).

2. If you do not wish to complete the form on your computer, you should complete the form by hand, with the exception that Section G MUST be typed.

You will need to download and use the PowerPoint template to make presentations of still images in your submission (see Guideline 7.5). If you are presenting moving images on DVD, then download and use the DVD Menu template (see Guideline 7.6).

To save the forms to view offline: PC users - right click on the link and select Save Target As, MAC users - Control-click select 'Download Linked File'.
